Karen M Kennedy is a dynamic Christian vocalist, actress and voice-over artist with many years experience in 2 countries including television appearances, radio announcing, and most importantly - worship.
Her debut CD BE THERE released in May 2006 is in the Adult Contemporary Christian genre with a little R&B thrown in for flavor, which embellishes Karen's soulful vocal style. Audiences are sure to hear such influences as Stevie Wonder, George Benson, Chaka Khan, Helen Baylor and Crystal Lewis. BE THERE was produced by Rich Webb at New Threads Productions in Lake Arrowhead California. Karen wrote or co-wrote the lyrics to 5 of the songs on the project, which began production in early 2005.
Born in England and raised in Australia, Karen currently resides in Southern California with husband Sean D. Kennedy and their two daughters Katriona and Shona. The Kennedys won the infamous "green-card lottery" in 1995 (by Divine Intervention!) and settled in the San Bernardino Mountains near Lake Arrowhead.
Mission Statement
Karen's passion is Performance Ministry. "I believe that there can never be enough good entertainment in the world, lets face it, we all like to be entertained in one way or another, but there's a lot of garbage out there, and if we're honest, we can sometimes tend to let some of that infiltrate our minds, when Christ clearly calls us to think upon whatever is true, noble, right and pure* (Philippians 4:8). I just want to be part of a growing influence for good, to join with others who both personally seek for and professionally express these qualities*...to present people with an option to listen to and watch something that will uplift their soul, not drag it down. We as believers are called to be salt and light. That's my endeavor with my music and acting."
Two years ago I was praying for the Lord to use me to serve him with my voice in a new and unique way. As always, the faithfulness of God never ceases to amaze me. I was recruited from The Sunday Night Bible Study at the Calvary Chapel Twin Peaks Conference Center to sing with Kathy Gipson and the worship team at Calvary Chapel Costa Mesa! What an incredible blessing to serve along side and glean from Pastor Chuck Smith at "big Calvary"! My family and I were truly blessed! Our daughter Katriona has even had the opportunity to serve at the Easter Sunrise Service with me at the Verizon Amphitheater in Irvine Ca.
We started to fall in love with "big church" after having always been involved with smaller sized fellowships. Well, the drive from the San Bernardino mountains to Costa Mesa being what it is, (a 140 mile round trip!) we started visiting Harvest Christian Fellowship in Riverside on Sunday mornings, and low and behold have been there ever since.
My family and I are so excited to see so many come to Christ at the invitation at the end of each service, and we thoroughly enjoy the worship (who wouldn't?) and ofcourse Pastor Greg Laurie's gifting for teaching the Word and spreading the Gospel. At Harvest we have seen wonderful guest speakers and singers such as Ravi Zaccharias, Ken Ham and Crystal Lewis. We are blessed to be a part of the fellowship there and look forward to getting plugged into ministry very soon.
5-9-10 I have some exciting news to share in the very near future! Stay tuned!
